Kenneth “Ken” R. Thompson, Jr. began his career in the trust and investment management business in Atlanta, Georgia in 1985. He later transferred to Southeast Georgia working in Waycross and Brunswick markets. In 2000, he moved to Jacksonville to work for a large national Private Bank. He served as a Managing Director and Senior Trust Advisor helping clients and their families administer complex fiduciary relationships. Additionally, he took on the responsibility of managing the trust administration teams for large sections of Florida and the Southeast. In August 2021, Ken joined Cypress Bank & Trust as the Senior Trust Executive for the Jacksonville region. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with clients and prospects who are looking to gain comfort and peace of mind that their plans are in place and will be administered efficiently and professionally.
Ken earned his Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation in 2001 and his Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) designation in 2025. He attended the Southern Trust School in Birmingham, Alabama as well as Cannon Trust School. He received his BS in Management from Georgia Tech.
Ken has always been active in professional and non-profit organizations in North Florida being a member and serving on the Board of the Planned Giving Council of NE Florida. He is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of NE Florida. He is a registered member of the University of Florida Advisors Network. Ken is active in his church and serves on several committees within the Catholic Diocese of St. Augustine, FL.
Ken married his wife, Cindy, in 1987 and they have two children and three grandchildren. They are blessed to have all the family here in Jacksonville. Away from work, Ken loves spending time with his family, playing golf and tennis, and singing in his church choir.
